The Texas Tech Centennial
          Celebration saw collaborations
          with the Houston Livestock Show
& Rodeo, an event in Austin during
a special session at the Texas
Capitol, and a special event of
roughly 5,000 attendees at the AT&T
          Discovery District, highlighted by
          performances from the Josh Abbott
Band and Pat Green. In addition, the
          recognition of the university earned
          the Goin’ Band from Raiderland
          an invitation to the Macy’s
          Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2023.

“As we have celebrated our first
century, we take a moment to see
firsthand just how big of an impact
Red Raiders have had on the world,” Photo Courtesy of Texas Tech University
          Schovanec said with excitement.
“What a source of pride this has
been for alumni of the university.”

One certainty about Dr. Lawrence Schovanec is his optimism
about the impact Red Raiders have and will continue to have
across Texas and beyond. The opportunity to lead this world-
class institution to new and exciting advancements will forever
be the highest honor, according to Dr. Schovanec.
Texas Tech continues to flourish under the leadership of
Dr. Schovanec in the areas of student retention, graduation
rates, and pivotal accomplishments reflecting the university's
commitment to research and outreach to communities and
industry. Consistent enrollment growth (even during the
COVID-19 pandemic) has led to the impressive milestone of
          more than 40,000 enrolled students.

President Schovanec’s proudest accomplishments belong to
the smaller, more quaint victories that are embedded in the
individual stories that each student contributes to the university
as a whole. Students come from all across the world, bringing
different experiences to the campus, making Texas Tech, in his
eyes, one of the finest universities in all of Texas. His respect
for the West Texas lifestyle and admiration for the will and
determination of Tech students continue to make his job a
          source of satisfaction.
“You will have your moments that may discourage you, you
may even feel depressed at times,” Schovanec says. “But you
cannot even foresee the wonderful things that lie before you if President Schovanec with Red Raider and Senior
every day you continue to be driven by the qualities that make Link intern Calan Johnson.
          up the Red Raider family.”
