TEXAS TECH CENTENNIAL

16½ years together before the beloved Texas Tech
President passed away on May 22, 2003. During their
marriage, the two were fond of traveling together,
keeping up with geology, and all things Texas Tech.
“He loved gardening and succulent plants, especially
sansevieria,” and Sally happily joined him in his
           hobby.

A lot of personality is packed into Mrs. Murray’s small
frame, and even though a recent knee surgery has
slowed her down a bit, it is obvious it won’t be for
long. She still has a lot of life left to live. The well-
rounded individual has been a member of dozens of
organizations (like the Lubbock Arts Alliance, Friends
of Music-TTU, Ranching Heritage Association, the
TTU Press, the Texas Tech Alumni Association) and
has been a board member of many of them (LHUCA,
Lubbock Women’s Club, TTU Museum Association,
and ARCS). She served as president of the Texas Tech
University Women’s Club and the TTUHSC Faculty
Women’s Club and was a member of the Leadership
           Texas Class of 2012.

At this stage of her life, Sally Murray loves looking back
on many rewarding experiences. “But the opportunity to

                                                                throughout his 86 years."

Sally Murray, the former professor, has good counsel

should encourage a young person to visit museums,
