a faithful member. He enjoys
playing dominoes in his spare
time and helping others in
need. Charles Curtis is a great
husband, an awesome father,
and an amazing grandfather. He
is truly loved by many and is
well-deserving of all the love and
affection he receives.
We honor hometown hero,
Charles Lee Curtis, for his years
of service and contribution to the
United States Army and to our
country.
High School together. To this union, six
children were born: Sharon Kay (d.),
Tanya, Michael, Dana (d.), Takisha, and
Kevin. This time, he did not have to go
to Germany alone; he was joined by his
wife and children. The family resided
in Giessen, Germany until 1981.
In 1981, Charles moved his family to
Fort Polk, Louisiana where he was
promoted to Section Chief in the 705th
Maintenance Company. This was his
last assignment, as he retired in October
1982 as a Sergeant 1st Class E7. Charles
had served for twenty years and three
months.
After retirement, Charles moved his family back to
Texas, where it all began for him. He became a civil
service employee at Reese AFB in Lubbock. There he
continued working as an aircraft welder until leaving
the base for the U.S. Postal Service in 1998. Charles
worked at the post office for several years until his
retirement.
Today, Charles enjoys a well-deserved life of luxury
with his devoted wife of 44 years. He keeps himself
busy working for the Lord at Manhattan Heights
