THE FRIENDSHIP FACTOR
Also, there is no need to make extra dinner
plans! The on-site kitchen has brisket
sandwiches and snacks available for purchase
as you walk in. The price of dinner at the
dance hall will be much better than what
you'd pay at most Lubbock restaurants, and
all the goodies are prepared by members of
the federation. Tables set up along the sides of
the hall allow you to have dinner comfortably
and provide a place for you to keep your
belongings while you hit the dance floor.
Clean, well-lit restrooms are easily accessible
from any part of the building, and there is folk
who discover it oftentimes wish they'd started dancing attire for sale at a huge savings if you
years before. Participants call it "friendship set want to peruse the women's petticoats and men's
to music.” For more information, you can go to dress shirts.

and enjoy a wholesome night out. The hall, which
belongs to LASRDF (The Lubbock Area Square
and Round Dance Federation), is a smoke-free,
alcohol-free, adult-only venue that caters to
our wonderful city's senior residents. There are
dancers in their 90s rediscovering their youth on
this dance floor; the age of the average Saturday
night patron is estimated to be above 80. The
crowd is full of native West Texans who are
upstanding members of our proud community
with traditional values.
HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
The door opens at 7. The hall asks for a $10
donation. That money goes toward keeping
the lights on and the music playing. If you find
yourself being a repeat visitor, you may want to
become a member of the federation. Members
pay $20 a year and save a few bucks at the door
on dance nights. LASRDF is a 501c non-profit,
meaning, in part, that the funds going into the
federation do not get paid out to any individual;
they all go toward keeping the bands' expenses
covered and the utilities for the hall paid.
