When asked about the best piece of advice she has
ever received, Ripley recalled a poster in college
that transformed how she thought of challenges;
as a result, she adopted a new mindset that helped
her persevere. The poster said, “A car with a flat
tire cannot go anywhere until you change it.”
Throughout her life, Ripley has approached her
life with tenacity and focused on the next day for
guidance, continuously adapting and changing in
response to challenges. Her life is an example of
the success of the messages she preaches. She is
married to her husband, Duff Ripley, and enjoys
gardening, baking, reading, and crocheting in
her free time. Additionally, her daughters have
followed in her footsteps, actively serving in the
United States Military.
Her enlightening messages have inspired not only
her daughters but also the hundreds of students
she has taught. Her experience with the military
did not end with her. The valuable gems of
knowledge she learned continue to affect all of her
