When I first started this essay, I thought it would be about the advice my grandparents would give their
18-year-old selves, but as I interviewed them, I realized it was more about what I can learn from what they
experienced at my age. It is hard to imagine your grandparents once being young, but it was fun to hear
their stories and see the glimmer in their eyes as they remembered their youth. They did give me some great
advice such as: stay out of trouble, work hard, pray about everything, and enjoy every day because time flies
by quickly. I will take all that to heart, but the most important thing I received was much more precious. I
realized the value of spending time with my grandparents so they can share the wisdom they have gained. Life
through their eyes helps put mine in perspective.
