Sa high school senior, Kyle
Edwards planned to pursue a career
as a Texas Game Warden. However,
after he completed two years of
college, the Texas Game Wardens
initiated a four-year hiring freeze.
He was not interested in waiting for
four years, so he applied with Texas
DPS in August of 1989. The next
month, he was at the DPS Training
Academy in Austin, Texas.
Upon completion of the 18-week
training academy, Kyle was
assigned as a Commercial Driver
License Trooper in Ft. Worth. In
November of 1991, he transferred
to the Texas Highway Patrol
Division and was stationed in
Aspermont. After three years, he
transferred over to Post, still as a
Texas Highway Patrol Trooper. In
June of 2001, he was promoted to
the rank of Sergeant in the Motor
Vehicle Theft Service, so he moved
to San Antonio.
Three years
later, Kyle was
transferred
to Lubbock,
still in the
Motor Vehicle
Theft Service.
In August
2007, he was
