Feb. 8-10, 15-17, 2019 Benefitting Women Veterans
A new program benefitting women veterans on
the South Plains is ready to launch. Women in the
military currently represent 11.8% of active duty
personnel. Woman veterans present with unique
challenges medically and mentally from that of
their male counterparts. Challenging military
experiences within a male-dominated environment
often makes for an especially difficult transition
back into civilian life for women veterans. Suicide,
unemployment, abuse, divorce, alcohol and
homelessness are on the rise for these former
soldiers. A group of women veterans, assisted by
the VA and local communities, have come together
to provide information about all the resources
that are available to women veterans. Support is
obtainable, and you are not alone. Dinner will be
served, and on-site babysitting will be provided;
however, seating is limited.
