Since the 1991 fall enrollment, this education partnership between
Wayland, United Way and local schools has seen 898 students
receive $4,180,272 - over $4,600 per student. The percentage of the
PEP students who graduate mirrors the rest of the enrollment. This
is money well spent to encourage students to complete a higher
education degree and have opportunities that they might not
              otherwise have discovered.

Don says, “Giving like that into these kids, I think, is the key to
success in all aspects of human life when you get right down to it.
I succeed in business by training people to grow. And I can’t say
enough about the commitment of Dr. Claude Lusk and the whole
Wayland team to these young people.”
“This program, to me,” Don said, his eyes brightening, “is a real
compliment to this community; no other community has done
this. Our community has put in $700,000. We support our young
people with United Way funds. And this is one of the most popular
programs. We are in our 27th year. I challenge the kids with this:
‘You are going to want to be a person with a degree, particularly in
the world you are going into. Get a year,
and find out what it is like. Discover
that college is not so scary.’ The dollar
earnings are hugely different, especially CALL TODAY
for the girls; our initial focus was on Are you or someone you

She can get a year of college and open a
window of hope for her.” Don Williams
is all about hope. Don is aware of God, If you have

              why?
                                                              We have answers.
Why would anyone in the autumn stage

to solve problems that do not touch him
              at all?

Don gleaned life principles along the
way and developed an avenue of access,
a bridge to a brighter future for those
around him. Why? To lend a hand to his
fellow man. What a great idea!
