control, yet I have recently come to realize the payoff
of her dedication to our Scouting careers.

A couple of months ago, my brother and I each
achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank
within the Scouting organization. I credit my success
in Scouting to the persistence of both Nana and
Mama B, as they were the driving forces behind my
success. As I neared the end of my Scouting career,
attaining my Eagle Scout rank had its rough spots,
mostly due to procrastination on my part, but Nana
and Mama B stayed after me and made sure I was
making the deadlines, and for that I owe them a lot.
It is said that only 2-3% of Scouts get their Eagle
Scout rank, and because of Nana and Mama B, I am
able to stand within these high ranks.
Nana and Mama B have taught me a lot about
perseverance and the strength of love. As I have
gotten older, I have developed a better sense of
how strong their love for my brother and me truly
has always been. They sacrificed so much of their
time, from carting us around from place to place,
attending all of our band concerts, and always being
there when we needed sage advice or a shoulder to
lean on. The amount of time and resources they have
poured into my brother and me have shown me the
strength of love. There we were, eight-month-old
babies, and rather than putting us in foster care,
they chose to raise us when our mother did not. me on our future journeys through life. It’s hard to put
Their unending support, unending dedication, and a value on such effort, but I plan on paying them back
unending love have helped me to become the man I am through becoming as successful as I can, knowing that
becoming. their love and dedication is the driving force behind
my actions, attitudes and ambitions, in both school and
They taught my brother and me to be respectful, the workplace - giving my all, as they always have for
caring, and courteous men, skills that have directed me.
