faith becomes real. “Can I really trust that Jody is with You and
totally healed and enjoying worshipping You as was her greatest
desire?” If so, I can grieve with hope…with assurance. She is
where she needs to be…and I need to be directed in my next steps
here, wherever and with whomever they take me. The Holy Spirit
is a very good Guide, and Jesus is the Way to the Father, where
Jody now abides.
Whereas there were many regrets some 39 years ago, I have very
few now. Jody often said that, since we got a late start, we would
count in doggie years. Therefore, we enjoyed 160 years together
that way. And it seems that we were able to cram 160 years of
living, loving, laughing, and ministering into the 23 that we were
a team. That’s comforting somehow.
Giving thanks for the time we had together seems to overwhelm
any sadness or present sorrow. The night of tears is shortened,
and the promise of joy prevails, along with Abba’s new mercies in
the morning as "He makes all things work for the good" of those
who love, trust, and obey Him. Good grief then propels me to ask
One of my favorite photos of my
joy-spreading Jody for comfort, and as the Holy Spirit does that for me, perhaps I can
be a vessel of comfort for someone else. Good grief…indeed.
