LOVE STORIES

             Christmas 2002 - Our Family

straight into Verse 3! Five days later, my water broke. While in residency, Johnny joined the Army Reserves
Long story short, we welcomed two precious little where he served for almost ten years. When he was
girls that day, and we’ve both been smitten ever since. able to moonlight for extra money, I stopped working
full-time. I always said most of my money went to
Soon, Johnny was finishing his junior year of college, childcare and pantyhose anyway!
carrying a full load, a part-time job and two full-time
jobs; the twins were finally in newborn clothes; and I look back and wonder how we made it. But I have
I was working full time. But then, I felt a familiar to give a big shout out to God; every time things
feeling; a doctor's visit confirmed I was pregnant got desperate, a miracle would happen. Once, right
again. Johnny’s reaction was the same as the first
time. What a pleasure having children with a man
who loves them so very much. Our third baby
girl arrived 13 months after the twins. Daddy
graduated from WTSU with his arms full of three
sweet baby girls and a smile on his face.

We were thrilled to be accepted by Texas Tech
Medical School. I found a job, and there was a
nursery close to the trailer park where we lived. We
had a three-bedroom trailer house, a little nicer car,
and a lot of love … but I sure was tired.

About a year later, I went back to the doctor. I’d
picked up my girls after work, and we walked into
a long hallway at UMC. I cringed as my toddlers
looked at each other and took off running. Then, I
turned around just in time to hear the nurse’s
report about the obligatory pregnancy test I had
taken: ”Mrs. Qubty, it’s positive.” “Our children
           they number just about four.…”

And so, life with four beautiful daughters
began. We made it out of medical school and
residency with hard work and determination and
any bit of help we could get. I continued working.
