eachers shape the future of millions of students every day, affecting how we treat each other, the way we work,
how productive we are, and even how happy and confident we are as adults. In effect, they shape societies and
Tcountries. Everyone remembers by name that teacher who, many years ago, said or did something that was an
inspiration to them. Those are the teachers who understand how critical their day-to-day actions and behaviors are in
shaping the futures of their students.
We have many residents here at Carillon Senior Living who made teaching a lifelong journey. Here are some of their
words and memories.
Lubbock Christian school “Teaching was a blessing for me. Seeing my students succeed and come to love learning
was my reward. I remember a student who had never passed the required Texas TAAS test,
and we worked outside of class many hours to master it. When we received the results, we

I feel I was called to teach, and God blessed me with a love for students in my heart
and soul—32 years of many memorable students whom I love to this day. I treasure the

“I taught children from seven to thirteen years old and then college
