Grandmomma and Grandad have always felt like
“home” to me. I’ve never felt any more loved by
anyone, other than my parents. I’ve always known
that I am seen, heard and understood when I am with
them. They listen to everything I have to say; they
share secrets and stories with me; and they always
make me feel like the most important person in the
world.
Watching the way they have always loved each other
is a gift that I know I am lucky to have. They’ve
made love and commitment look like fun, instead of
a chore. We have all heard that marriage is hard and
takes work, and I believe that is true. But watching
my grandmother pick on Granddad as she serves
him, and seeing Granddad laugh and joke right back,
has taught me that long lasting love is a joy. Having
that love extended to me means I get to take part in
that joy.

an inspiration. Their love for one another is
unconditional and ever growing. This tribute is
addressed to them personally.

Thank you, Grandmother and Grandad, for raising
my mother. You did a great job starting and
supporting the positive legacy that our family has.

Granddad, I love you more than words could say.
You have always been there for me and my sister.
When we were young, you built us the best fort that
a kid could ask for. No one else had a fort in their
backyard as great as ours. You pour your love into
everything you do. You treat grandmother with such
tender loving care. You have shown me how to treat
people. Thank you for being such a strong man of
God.

Grandmother, your tender hugs and words of praise,
your laughter and loving ways are joys that I will
recall the rest of my life. You always made the best
pies that smelled heavenly. You are an incredible
prayer warrior. I’ve always known you were praying
for me and everyone else with great conviction. I love
you more than you know.
