The Mulkeys are unique, not only because all
three siblings and their families live on the same
street, two of which are next door, but also because
their parents, including in-laws, live within one
square mile of each other. Brandon and Christie,
who married 23 years ago, have a full house. With
six children, one already off to college, and the
addition of a longtime family friend, any home
would be a bit crowded. But after selling their
house, this family of eight moved in with Jason

sense of community, with a feeling of fellowship
with others that all but overwhelms. No one is
a stranger at the Mulkey’s; everyone is welcome.
Those who know the Mulkey family can testify that
their hospitality is nearly supernatural, complete
with sweet southern accents and hot coffee.
Genuine generosity. No matter which front door
you walk through, you will be welcomed, you will
be served, and you will be made to feel like part of
the family.
Rebecca recalls when she and Jason were getting
married, making a deliberate point to make sure
that their home would not be run by the constraints
of time but by the needs of the people that were
