grandparents and parents. They have beautiful
stories and life lessons that need to be told. As
a granddaughter, I want my Papa to know how
much I treasure him. And I want to continue
to be open to learning all the things he still has
to teach me. He has taught me to be still, keep
close, and always check up on family, even if it
is just a phone call or a text message. It feels like
he ties the whole family together and holds us
tight. My Papa is an amazing man who loves
and cherishes everyone and is valuable and

selfless and looks for tasks to do for others. This
summer, we needed our fence repaired. My
Papa went to Home Depot, his favorite store,
and bought the tools and resources to rebuild
our fence. He worked hard in our backyard
for a couple of weeks in 100-degree weather.
My Papa is kind, knowledgeable, efficient and
generous, pouring his heart out into everything
he does.
I have been impacted by my Papa ever since
I can remember. He has always been right
there next to me, supporting me and caring
for me. At all my events - school, athletics,
awards, and banquets - I knew he would be
there, cheering me on. As grandchildren, or
even as children, we need to learn from our
