Brownfield Highway and seeing a row of trees all
the way to 19th Street. I remember passing all of
the big “mansions” and dreaming that someday I
would get to live in Lubbock. It came true in 1964. I
didn’t quite make it to 19th St., but our little wood
frame house on 25th and Memphis was home to
many happy memories.
Our children: Our grandchildren:
Troy and Emily Barron - Whitesboro Tanner Barron - CPA in Houston
Jennifer and John Heal - Austin Hailey Heal - sophomore at A&M
Danna, we lost in 1998 Maddie and Murphy Heal - seniors at Austin High School
Tyler - Lubbock Tate Barron - sophomore at Coronado
Isabella Barron - 4th grader at Whiteside
One thing I always think of when I think about Mee Maw
is her smell. I would describe the scent as a combination of
Hollyhocks Store in Lubbock and a clean home. Chanel # 5
will always remind me of her.
~Hailey
Mee Maw is the best grandmother I could’ve asked for.
Having her around during the holidays and receiving her
cards always puts a smile on my face. I am blessed to call her
my grandmother.
~Murphy
I sure am a lucky girl to have Dixie Barron as my Mee Maw.
I appreciate every lesson and memory that she has brought
to our family. Her dedication inspires me. She is the most
selfless, kindhearted, Red-Raider-loving person, and I couldn’t
be prouder to call her my grandmother.
~Maddie
She takes me to St Luke’s Children’s Choir, to Texas Tech
basketball games, to the Nutcracker and to Holly Hop Ice Cream
Shoppe. She loves me, and I think she is the best grandmother
ever.
~Isabella
My Mee Maw is one of the best women I have ever met. She
has always been there for me, and even let me stay at her
house while I looked for an apartment in Lubbock. She is
incredibly caring and wants the best for her children, and her
grandchildren.
~Tanner
I loved it when my Mee Maw took me on vacation
every spring break. We went to Carlsbad Caverns, to the
Dinosaur Tracks at Glen Rose, to the Alamo and to the State
Capitol.
