for Downtown Lubbock and, indeed, this entire region of West Texas.
Being a developer takes a certain amount of confidence, charisma,
risk-taking, patience and compromise, to name just a few attributes.
Being the master developer of the
Overton project and now the Downtown
Revitalization effort magnifies each of
these many times. One cannot take on
a challenge like these redevelopments
and make everyone happy or try to be
everyone’s friend, although Delbert has
done his best to treat everyone fairly and
with respect. There will be those who
will disagree with decisions, may attack
the premise itself and will be envious
of the effort, but all one has to do is
drive around Overton Park today and
remember what it was like twenty years
ago, and you will be forced to admit
that it was well done, and the City of
Lubbock and Texas Tech University is a
better place today because of the effort.
Downtown is following closely behind.
