EXCEPTIONAL SENIORS

His connection to LCU is so profound that his
         grandchildren have always affectionately referred
to Lubbock Christian University as “Granddad’s
college.” This simple phrase captures the essence of
his tenure: a man so synonymous with a place that his
family sees no distinction between the person and the
         institution.

A Legacy Cemented: The Williams Theatre
In October 2025, the LCU community gathered for
a historic event titled "Don Williams: His Lasting
Legacy." The room was filled to capacity with alumni,
former colleagues, and current students, all there to
witness a "full circle" moment. During this celebration,
the university officially renamed the CDC Theatre
         the “Williams Theatre.”
                                                                LCU’s Big Blue Christmas 2025
The naming was a recognition of a man who had
dedicated his entire adult life to the institution.
As President Dr. Scott McDowell noted during the
ceremony, “Williams’ greatest contribution wasn't just
the plays he directed or the departments he ran; it was the
consistent, Christ-centered devotion he showed to every
         person he encountered.”
         The One True Mr. LCU

As of early 2026, Doc Williams continues to influence
LCU as Professor Emeritus, still teaching, still mentoring,
and still telling stories. His 56-year journey is a reminder
that the greatest legacy one can leave is not found
in bricks and mortar—though the Williams Theatre
now stands as a beautiful physical tribute—but in the
thousands of lives shaped by his wisdom, his humor, and
         his friendship.

Capturing the sentiment of thousands of alumni, Dr.
Tim Perrin noted that Don Williams is the one true
"Mr. LCU." He is the embodiment of the spirit of the
college—the living heart of the blue and white. Dr. E.
Don Williams didn’t just build a department at Lubbock
Christian University; he helped build the very soul of the
         institution.

Fun Fact: Phyllis Williams (Don’s wife) and Bev
Byers worked together at Milam’s Toyland down
on Broadway Ave in Lubbock as teenagers long
before either of them knew Don! They were
known for some lively escapades at work such as
taking a full size surrey out in the street while the
                 boss was away!
