MUSIC & ART

Santa Rodney prays “that God will use me” and has paintings reads, “Note to self— Use my creativity for the
many heartwarming stories to tell. A memorable one benefit of others.” Enough said.
happened six years ago, right before Christmas. A
six-year-old boy, all dressed up, was seated in his lap.
When asked what he wanted for Christmas, the child
responded, “I don’t need anything, but I brought this
dinosaur for you to give to someone who might want
it.” Impressed, Rodney put the dinosaur under his chair.
Soon, a young mom of obviously limited means brought
her child. He responded to Santa’s question with, “I
would love to have a dinosaur.” Rodney pulled the
dinosaur out from under the chair. “You’d have thought
that he won the lottery,” and tears flowed from the child, 633 Broadway | Plainview, TX 79072 | 806-587-0417

The rest of the year, Rodney creates art. He primarily
paints with oils but also enjoys working in wax to make
bronze sculptures. There was a time though, he nearly
gave it all up because he didn’t feel like he was getting
any better. So, he traveled to Kenneth Wyatt’s studio in
Tulia. Mr. Wyatt came into the studio and asked what
Rodney was doing. “I just came to get some inspiration”
and explained a bit about his funk. Wyatt took Rodney
down to the basement and showed him some paintings Tues-Fri 10-5:30, Sat 10-4, Closed Sun and Mon
on a wall—a little less than stellar. “These are some of
my first ones. Art is your gifting. Don’t give up.” Rodney enneth Wyatt Tyler Crow. Our framed
