original stories. Performances of A Tale of the Kingdom
were held in the Spring of 2021 and 2022, and they were
an instant favorite with many of our families, as well as
those in our audiences.
One unexpected benefit was that the books’ author,
Karen Mains, actually contacted us with a desire to
come to our performances, all the way from her home
in Chicago. Her presence for both performance seasons
was an honor that was completely unexpected and most
deeply appreciated. And our fears that the adaptations
we had to make to her stories were completely allayed.
She actually loved the changes we made and thoroughly
enjoyed seeing what she had written come alive on the
stage. What a gift!
