                                                                 hand gesture, to serious, stern, and talking with his
                                                                 hands even more. “You want to ask yourself, how come
                                                                 everybody isn’t all wound up about this?” George
                                                                 questioned. “It’s something that’s going to affect
                                                                 everybody.”

                                                                 Dr. Katherine Hayhoe, one of the founders and leaders
                                                                 of the Citizens Climate Lobby, calls George a champion
                                                                 for climate change. “Dr. George’s unrelenting passion
                                                                      and steadfast commitment to his beliefs are an
                                                                      example to us all,” Hayhoe said. “He has inspired
                                                                      many to join the fight against climate change.”
                                                                      George is not worried about himself. Instead,
                                                                      he is worried about what his grandchildren will
                                                                      experience 50 years from now.

                                                                      “When you hear the statistics about which way
                                                                      things are going, how steep the curve is of the rise
                                                                      of greenhouse gasses, alongside the temperature
                                                                      of the atmosphere—what’s it going to be like in
                                                                      2073?” George said.
