The next stop is the Crickets Theater, a 400-seat theater designed
in partnership with Lubbock ISD. Lubbock ISD is the only school
to call Buddy Holly Hall home to their fine arts programming. The
Crickets Theater features all LED stage lighting and the same state-
of-the-art equipment as the main hall.
Let’s take a peek backstage at Buddy Holly Hall. When designing
the venue, special touches were implemented to make the
performers’ and touring artists’ experiences just as wonderful as
the patrons attending the show. The Hall has three large group
dressing rooms with fabulous lighting, showers, and bathrooms;
four private dressing rooms for the stars of the show, each with a
private bathroom; a performers’ lounge, and a crew lounge.
It’s a tradition in the industry for performers to autograph the wall backstage. Clint Black, Lady A, Peter Frampton, Lee
Brice, and the cast of Buddy the Musical have all signed the wall at Buddy Holly Hall.
Can you believe the view from the stage? Imagine the awe as
so many performers take in the world-class venue and amazing
Lubbock audience from center stage. The chandelier lighting in
the Helen DeVitt Jones Theater was designed to mimic a West
Texas starry night. When the lights are out in the theater, with
only the chandelier lighting on, it feels like you are laying in your
backyard on a clear summer night looking up at the beautiful
West Texas stars.
