the trampoline, cruising around in golf carts
and ATVs, and pelting each other with water
balloons in an all-out fight. There is never
a dull moment when 12 kids and their fun
grandparents get together.
We spend our nights playing card games and
watching old movies, and our mornings begin
in prayer and Bible study. We stay up late to
talk with Pappie and Poppa and learn all about
our family and our history. Those late-night
talks are my personal favorite. There are snacks
galore, and junk food is always on the menu
(for one week only)! We always take a trip to
the community pool in Tahoka, which is a lot of
the kids’ favorite part. One year, the lifeguard
there asked our oldest cousin Reagan for her
phone number, and now they are married!
So many special memories have been made
over the years. We feel so grateful that we get
to share these moments with our grandparents
and each other, even as we all get older and
busier. Although life gets crazy, we know we
can always count on Pappie and Poppa camp
to allow us to slow down and spend intentional
time with the ones we love most. For this one
week, we have no responsibilities, no worries,
and time to just breathe and enjoy the family
Pappie and Poppa created. We get to play
endless rounds of cribbage, sleep in as late as
we please, and laugh until our bellies hurt.
Thanks to P&P, we have countless memories
to look back on as we have grown up. I know I
speak for all of us when I say: we can’t wait to
make more!
