THE FRIENDSHIP FACTOR

                                                        Poem

                                                                                              by Pearl Renfro

                                                        God knew I needed these friends so dear;
do other crafts. We pray, eat, laugh His plan to bring us together is perfectly clear.
             and shop.  Our most recent priority        We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we always pray;
is a once a week Zoom meeting.
Our love for each other nothing can sway!
             We come together for life’s
tragedies and joys. We have gone In the best of times, we come together,
through the deaths of spouses, an And in the worst of times, we’re there for each other.
adult child, an adult grandchild, Some have moved away, and some have stayed,
a fiancé, and parents as well as But when we get together, our joy is displayed!
             divorces. We have been through
cancer, sickness, and surgeries. The love we share comes straight from on high!
During the loss of the fiancé, we We’re bound together by Father; no weapon can come nigh.
gathered to bring love and support I’m so thankful for these “sisters”
to our sister. That day, one of the That the Lord has given me!
sisters wanted to share a story with And when we leave this earthly vessel,
us. We all settled in to listen to a Together in Glory we will be!
tale of penguins. There is a species
of penguins who protect, love, and
             support their “friends”. When
one is injured or sick, they put that
penguin in the center of a circle.
They gather closely, facing outward, around
the one in the center. They do this until the
hurting member can survive on its own. She
said we were like that group of penguins.

The joys we have shared have been many.
To name a few, we have shared the births of
             grandchildren, births of great-grandchildren,
             weddings, graduations, and retirements. One
priceless thing is that, through watching us,
our children have learned to come to our
             circle for any prayer need.

After meeting our circle, I asked a lady what
she thought. She said she had never seen so
many women with problems. What we see
is a beautiful group of women whom God
brought together and has kept together. We
consider ourselves a tribe. We have a strong
faith in Jesus and a love for family and each
other. We are sharing this journey that we
             know as life.
