Getting to Know My Neighbor

neighbors well – really well – and
in talking with one of them, I
realized that quarantine-life was
unique and would probably be
something from which I would
learn a great deal. As Sue told me,
“The experiences you’ve had shade
everything that comes after.”
Sue St. Clair was born in 1947 in
Hardtner, Kansas. Her family
moved from Kansas when she
was three because her father, who
worked in the oil business, was
offered a job in Odessa. Sue grew
up as an only child, and as a result,
she was mostly around adults.
Her family did not have a lot of
money, so they lived a structured,
simple lifestyle. Her mother was
known for being very particular her family spent their evenings at a large impact on the way she
when it came to raising Sue. As home playing card games, talking eventually raised her kids.
