“Line Dancing caught my eye while visiting my mom in her nursing
home. The Dance Team was there entertaining the residents. I decided
that when I retired I wanted to Line Dance, too. I began with lessons in
2015 and eventually joined a team. I enjoy the dancing, the wonderful
friendships I have made and the exercise it provides my body. I would
encourage any seniors who want to exercise, make new friends and just
have fun to check out the classes at the UMC Activities Center.”

“Three years ago I retired after 23 years at the Health Sciences Center.
Many of my friends were either still working or had already retired and
moved away from the Lubbock area. But one friend had attended a few
line dancing classes and told me how much she enjoyed them.
“That’s why I first stepped into the UMC AC. Having never really
danced in my life, I wasn't too confident I could actually learn to dance.
I was wrong! The instructors are patient and they make everyone feel
welcome and comfortable. The reason I continue to dance is to stay
physically active and socially connected with other active people.”
