it. She always had a verse or a book or a print-out to
help with what I was going through. My husband,
Alfonso, and I even joined a class that she and her
husband Brian led at Trinity called “Healing
at the Root.” They taught us about forgiveness
and healing, and our families grew closer.
Those were great times. Many people found
freedom in those classes, and our spiritual roots
were growing deeper, thanks to the mentoring
          and nurturing of this couple.

We began going to Brian and Bronell’s home
group meetings where they welcomed our
family and treated us like kinfolks—with joy,
hugs, food, and caring. They always had toys
and snacks for our sons, too. Bronell and Brian
are so welcoming and inclusive that every
meeting had a newcomer. That is another
          quality I admire.

Bronell is my super-heroine mom! She has
faithfully walked with me through my most
difficult moments. When my parents went
to heaven, she was consistent, loyal, stable,
steady, and available. Since our youngest son,
Noah, was born, she and Brian have treated
him like a grandson. They pray for all our sons,
supporting and encouraging them by attending
          birthdays, graduations, holidays, and sporting
          events. Just like family.

In February, we celebrated Bronell’s 80th
birthday party. As we gathered for a luncheon
