Hospice of Lubbock
Hospice of Lubbock is the only nonprofit hospice in the Lubbock community and serves 19
surrounding counties. It is the only provider of adult and pediatric end-of-life care in the area.
For the past 35 years, Hospice of Lubbock has cared for tens of thousands of patients and families,
with 5-10% of patient care being covered by charitable donations. Hospice of Lubbock has never
denied services to anyone due to lack of insurance or inability to pay.
Since 2013, Hospice of Lubbock has also proudly served more than 800 veterans and is a 4-Star-Level
program with the We Honor Veterans organization.
Pediatric Care
One of the unique components that sets Hospice of Lubbock apart from other providers is the ability
to provide services to pediatric patients with terminal illnesses. Our team of providers includes
doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplains, counselors, and music therapy, all available to offer
extra comfort and support to families caring for a child at end-of-life. Pediatric hospice patients can
range in age from newborn to 18 years. These young patients can also receive curative treatments
concurrent with hospice and palliative care. Pediatric hospice care tends to be more family-centered
rather than patient-centered, as the family almost always needs more support in addition to the care
of their child. Families, outside providers involved in the child’s care, and Hospice of Lubbock team
members collaborate and work together for the best interests of the terminally ill child, to address
all needs and provide comfort and support. Extra sensitivity and support are provided throughout
the duration of hospice care of the child, along with post-death bereavement support to family
members, siblings, and friends, for a minimum of 14 months.
