                                                                                        THE WAY

he Way of Escape by Warren New tells the of
heartbreaking yet beautiful story about raising two
Thandicapped children, trying to navigate a system that ESCAPE
isn’t always equipped to adequately support handicapped
children, and learning through numerous trials what is truly
            important and worth fighting for.

Robert and Susan Harper were told their baby boy Matthew
was just a “laid-back” baby. But they discovered, after seeing
a specialist, that Matthew really had cerebral palsy. It began
an uphill battle for the Harpers. They spent most of their
time, for the next several years, working toward getting the
help and support they needed for their little son.

One of the toughest battles the Harpers faced occurred after
Matthew was assaulted by a teacher at school; Mr. Harper
pursued criminal charges. The Harpers were met with
scrutiny and criticism from their community. Mr. Harper’s
career faced uncertainty, and he had to ascertain if his faith
would be enough to help him endure the battle.
Through faith, the Harpers continue to work toward
doing the best for their children, while shining a light on
the handicap community. This is a story of a particular
hardship, one that many readers may relate to. It is the story
of hardship and trials, but also love and triumph. Stories
that focus a spotlight on the heroism within our human
existence are encouraging, uplifting and satisfying. Grab a
            tissue, read and enjoy!
