EXCEPTIONAL SENIORS

                                                     Our family

I retired from TI in April 2001 – “with a tear in my
eye; it’s all over.” The next day, I drove to Texas Tech
University and said, “I need a job.” They took me in,
and I taught Electric Circuits for almost 15 years. Now
here is the crazy thing. When offered that job, I said,
“I am a metallurgist; I know little about circuits.” My
boss said, “It’s the only job we have for you.” I learned
to do that and loved it. After I retired in 2016, I did free
tutoring and continued writing a column for The Slatonite
        newspaper.
Alice was a stay-at-home mom until our two girls
were in junior high. She returned to work, caring for
premature and newborn babies. The more she learned,
the more she loved her work. Having taken many
courses on the subject, she became a lactation specialist.
We moved to Lubbock in 2002, where Alice met “the
most wonderful lactation nurses at Covenant Children’s
Hospital. It was the best job ever! Each baby and mother
is unique. I love helping them; it’s like a puzzle. It all fits
together.” Alice with a few of her favorite colleagues

We have two daughters; one is in the Denver area, and had productive careers,
the other is in the Dallas area. Both became elementary working with so many
school teachers. Karen, our youngest, taught 1st graders kind and talented people.
to read, and Wendy is helping elementary school kids It’s not over; we have
with their math skills. more to do.

Our current passion is to convince graduates of the
Colorado School of Mines and Texas Tech University Ed. Note: Ron has already
to provide scholarships and then endowments written five stories for recent

You would be amazed at what a difference a modest brand of storytelling. More
scholarship makes. These young people are our future. to come.

We both worked past our 80th birthdays, and we have
enjoyed our work. We have been fortunate to have
