A poignant wreath-laying ceremony at the historic Memorial Circle in the center of the Texas Tech campus
was followed by a breakfast and program in the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center. After an opening
prayer led by WWII veteran Phil Crenshaw, and a stirring rendition of the national anthem by Berklee
Timmons, Senior Link’s Erin Agee welcomed everyone, and US Congressman Jodey Arrington provided
a video tribute to the honored guests, many of them WWII veterans. Speeches by Texas Sen. Charles
Perry, MVP Director Debra Crosby, MVN Director Lou Ortiz, and Veteran Kyle Chapman commended the
service of the veterans and inspired the rest of us. ABC Bank, Kindred Hospice and Hospice of Lubbock
provided the breakfast and special gifts including a commemorative coin. Thank you to all of them and
to our other sponsors, Texas Tech’s MVP, Texas Tech Alumni MVN, Market Street and Marble & Co. and
to the young men in the Civil Air Patrol. A special thank you to Texas Tech University and Vice President
Dr. Carol Sumner who welcomed everyone to the campus and expressed heartfelt thanks to each veteran
                  in attendance.
