Of course, with this expansion our costs have risen
as has our need for volunteers. We do not receive
any government funding. We rely totally on the
generosity of the citizens of Lubbock. We receive
funds through private donations, memorials and
tributes, grants, and fundraisers. LMOW hosts two
major fundraisers each year. Our Mardi Gras event
is our largest fundraiser of the year.
This year is our 20 annual Mardi Gras. It includes

over 35 food booths (with selections from your
favorite local restaurants), music by Bo Garza, a
variety of entertainers, a large silent auction, and
cash bars. You’ll see lots of purple (for justice),
green (for faith), and gold (for power) – all
traditional Mardi Gras colors. Kiddos will enjoy
the Children’s Area, featuring bouncers, face and
hair painting, and many other activities. A Mardi
Gras King and Queen (Nick Kraynok and Brittany
Escobar) will reign over the event.
Tickets are $40 for adults, ($45 at the door), and
