Welcome to our summer edition, Celebrate America. As our country approaches its
250th birthday, we set out to highlight the people, businesses, and communities that
define who we are—a rich blend of individuality and character that, when woven from
together, creates something truly remarkable.
In the pages ahead, we invite you to celebrate some of our local favorites—from the the
nostalgia of Furr’s Cafeteria to the stories behind Escondido Grill and Pete’s Drive-In,
and how each found its place in our community—places where memories are made, publisher
stories are shared, and traditions are passed down from one generation to the next.
We also honor Levelland’s 100th anniversary by exploring moments from its rich history,
reminding us how strong roots help shape a thriving future.
You’ll be introduced to the FOUND mission, where dedicated
volunteers are making a meaningful impact and discovering
opportunities to serve, especially during the summer months.
In addition, we highlight the New Legacy Home and Malta
Farms—two local ministries providing hope and support to
individuals working to overcome adversity and rebuild their lives.
Their stories are a testament to the power of encouragement,
faith, and community. And throughout this issue, we share the
inspiring journeys of immigrants who now call America home,
bringing traditions, resilience, and perspectives that continue to
enrich us all.
At a time when our nation can feel divided, it is our hope that
this edition reminds you of an America worth celebrating—a
community that welcomes, connects, and uplifts. A place where
small acts of kindness, shared stories, and local connections still
matter deeply.
Thank you for taking the time to read and be part of what we
share. As you enjoy the summer months, we encourage you to
slow down—stop at the lemonade stands, take walks with your grandchildren, share stories of the past,
and look ahead with hope. Hold onto the moments that bring us together, create new memories with
loved ones, and reach out to help someone needing a hand up. For 250 years, Americans continue to
discover that the most important values in life are found in relationship. As one article reflects, “the
more things change, the more they stay the same.”
Our celebration of America’s birthday continues in the fall as we honor our veterans. If there is a
veteran in your life you would like us to recognize, we would be honored to help share their story.
More than ever, their service deserves to be remembered and celebrated.
As always, thank you, dear readers, for your interest in the stories that make up the substrate of our
community. And it is with deep gratitude that we encourage you to support the advertisers who
support our mission of telling the stories that keep us “linked.”
