Ruth’s dedication to her work never wavered even when
the Army called her back to Fort Hood. It was then that
she spent 15 grueling months deployed to Iraq serving
with the 1 Cavalry Division during what was referred to

as the Second Gulf War, or Iraqi Freedom.
By then, the toll of over two and a half decades of service
and the growing needs of her family in Lubbock signaled
to Ruth that it was time for a new chapter. She retired as a
Sergeant First Class, leaving behind a legacy of sacrifice,
excellence, and service.
Ruth dedicated 26 years of her life to serving her country,
orchestrated her absence from work that spared her from a path marked by both triumphs and trials. From the
