Veteran Appreciation Banquet

Following our cover photo shoot at Texas Tech Memorial Circle, our honorees were treated to a tribute breakfast
at the beautiful McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center. Our special guests were Korean War veterans, but we were
honored to have active and former military personnel of all ages, services, and roles. Texas Supreme Court Justice
(Ret.) and veteran Phil Johnson set the tone with his prayer for our country, followed by welcomes from Senior Link
publisher Erin Agee and Texas Tech University President Lawrence Schovanec and messages from U.S. Congressman
Jodey Arrington; Texas State Representative and veteran Carl Tepper; Lubbock City Councilman Steve Massengale;
TTU-MVN President and veteran Eloy Guerra; and author and veteran Larry Williams. Berklee Timmons once again
stirred us with her rendition of the National Anthem, and the veterans left with a challenge coin and gifts from our
generous sponsors.
