               In 2009, the late Lt. Gen. Bernhard Mittemeyer recruited Maj. Gen. Walter Huffman, the late Maj.
               Gen. Edgar Murphy and me to help the veterans in West Texas, and his vision for a new VA Clinic
               in Lubbock became a reality in 2021. Many others helped throughout the lengthy process. The
             "
               success of that project led to the vision for a veteran’s cemetery in Lubbock. And now it is about
               to become a reality. Federal, state, and local officials and many other veteran advocates have
               joined in the effort to ensure that our veterans are honored with a final resting place worthy of
               their sacrifice. Thank you to everyone who has helped take the cemetery from vision to actuality! "
